The Real Illinois License Examination
The official Illinois License Examination has 35 questions. One part with 15 questions addresses common road signs described in the study guide. The second part with 20 questions checks your knowledge of Illinois traffic laws and safe driving recommendations.
You must correctly answer at least 28 question (80%) to pass your knowledge examination.
Questions are multiple-choice or True-or-False questions.
There is no time constraint, which means you should give yourself plenty of time to evaluate each question and carefully pick your answer.
Should you fail your knowledge test, you can usually try again the next business day. If you found the test hard, wait at least a week and take more practice tests before you try again.
Closed Book Test
Remember, the license exam is a closed book test. You cannot bring the Illinois study guide, any other books, papers, or notes.
Your cell phone should be turned off. You cannot use your phone or any other wireless devices during the test. Remove phone ear plugs or buds.
Make sure you follow instructions by the examiner, if they suspect you of disobeying the rules, you will get a warning. If you are found cheating, you will fail the exam and must wait 30 days before you can take on the test again.
